Tale of the trail

Dear traveler,

To be honest, I was kind of sick of snow, but my folks still wanted to wander, so I gave them a day off to do a hike without me.

Usually, when I'm not hiking with them, they will choose a much more difficult trail, or at least one I'm not ready for yet.

But each and every time I can't wait for them to come back with stories about the places they saw.

Therefore, this time they chose a longer hike with some friends an a few doggies as their companions. It's a trail I also hiked with them but only during summer.

I look at their photos and I'm trying to recognize the places. On some segments, the snow melted a bit and they look familiar.

Mamarmot tells me that when they started walking, she even saw some crocuses...hmmmm, once this snow melts I want to go there and see them all!

As usual, my dad is like a mountain goat, running on a ridge from time to time to see what's over it.

I find the photos from Tigăilor Saddle. Wow, this is my favorite place! I visited it during late summer, I was gobbling up, mouthful of blueberries, but also when the rhododendron was in full bloom, so many flowers around me that I had to be careful when I stepped.

Now it looks so nice and winter seems to still be in charge here. I'm looking at the snow burrowed waymarking and I remember that usually it's taller than I am.

My folks were very lucky to have a clear day and they had a view towards all the mountains around them. I don't know what I like the most during winter. That I can play and have fun in snow or the way this season paints everything surrounding it.

I like the way ice shines but also how all the small paths that are winding on the mountain side are created by the footsteps of travelers.

These dinosaurs that amazed me a few summers back are now cuddling under snow blankets. At least the ones you can see from the peak.

Iiiii, look, the back of a white dinosaur!

Mamarmot tells me that after you descended from the peak, the path was quite narrow and slippery. On this side of the mountain it seems like the sun doesnțt shine. Here only the wind blows. Well, here the wind always blows.

I think these small fir trees would agree..

Look, it's Mamarmot..she hardly appears in pictures as she is always the photographer. Probably someone was very kind to take a picture of her.

I slowly reach the end of the photo album.

I'm imagining about their footsteps, descending towards the cabin, then slowly down on Beer Valley until the end of the trail, at the snow creaking under their feet, at the dense forest, the winter sun and the shiny snow.

Now that I see all these wonders, I'm kind of sorry that I did not go with them. But Mamarmot says that this trail cannot be hiked safely anymore, because on some segments it's dangerous when the snow starts to melt. Ok..but, Ciucaș, next winter you'll not be getting away with it!

I ask Mamarmot:

-"And? The next adventure?"

-"I don't know, Marmot, but wherever we go, I want to go together"

Marmot statistics

Joy

It was a wonderful day with perfect weather, amongst friends. Still, I missed the marmot during this hike.

Sights

The trail is mostly a crest one and we are surrounded by spectacular sights. Crests from the Ciucaș massif, as well as Bucegi, Făgăraș, Piatra Craiului, Baiului mountains and other crests that I don't recognize.

Difficulty

It's a long trail and during winter the difficulty degree grows. There are some segments where the snow is higher but also some segments where you'll have to walk carefully.

Boredom

Some hikes don't always make sense for the marmot. But for us, boredom is out of question.

Drama

No marmot, no drama. The only drama happened when she saw what she missed.
